I'm a MAC novice

Last Wednesday (28th November 2007), I went to Midvalley Megamall to pick up my new pair of Emporio Armani's glasses. I thought I was only going there for awhile since it was already 3.30 when I reached the mall. Somehow, I had the urge to buy myself a new lipstick. I wandered around Jusco to look for potential target but I was kinda frustrated. But, I haven't tried any MAC. So, I took all the troubles to go to MAC outlet.

I asked for an opinion from one of MAC staffs on the suitable lipstick color. She recommended several colors and I settled with TWIG. Later I asked for a matching lip liner. As I was about to make payments for the two items, my eyes were captivated by the unique royal design of MAC's eyeshadow's collection - ROYAL ASSETS.

Daya, the friendly and helpful staff offered me to do a quick sort of make-over using that collection. Indeed, I looked different and I was happy with it. Guess what?? Another item in the cart. Hehehehe....
I am happy that I have found my new range of makeups. I'm planning to have the foundation and a few other items for my next purchase. To Daya, thank you for assisting me.

FACEBOOK CRAZE

I was invited to join Facebook by a dear friend of mine, I think about a month ago. Initially, I thought that Facebook is just another social platform for the online friends to register. But, the more I log on to Facebook, the more hooked up I am. And true enough, I'm spending quite a considerable number of hours on Facebook, everyday, post office hours, of course ;). So, say you want to add me, feel free to do so (search for Nina Kasim with the picture of cute tiger on the profile, you can't go wrong!)

New House n New Course

I'm moving into new house soon (early December). So, now it's time to get busy with the packings and cleaning. Plus, I have to teach new course codes for next semester. In the process of preparing teaching materials for the students.

Black Tuesday

Tuesday - 19th November 2007
I went off to work rather early today because my university is having one of the convocation sessions today. So, I figured, I can leave early to reach there around 7.15 and get my self a strategic car park. I even had the time to fix myself a simple breakfast for the day.

Somehow, it was fated by Allah, i met with an accident along the LDP on the way to Shah Alam. Luckily, I didn't knock the car right in front of me but unfortunate for my MyVi, that it was knocked by someone else. I was alright though I experienced double shockings - first when I urgently braked my car and another was when the back car knocked mine. Nothing major though but the lady who knocked me is willing to cover the expenses for my damage. I sent the car to the workshop she recommended and got back the car on Wednesday (20th November 2007).

Lesson of the story - WEAR SEATBEALTS AT ALL TIME

I'm Back from Silence

It's been a long.. long time since I last wrote in here. The last post was rather a boring one. I know.. but that does not mean that I'm a boring person too. Rather, I was just bored and got nothing to do.

Now, I'm back with my newly reformatted and repaired notebook. I've had much troubles with it that I sent it for a repair last week. I got it back on Tuesday evening.

I will try to post as much writings as possible this time but should I feel restrained from doing so, then I might not. Hehehehe.... Adios amigos

From Private to Public.. and now Private again...

About a month ago, we were acknowledged with the privatisation of the giant telecommunication company, MAXIS by decision of Tan Sri Ananda Krishnan of the shares not currently held by him. The privatisation exercise is expected to worth close to RM 39.47 billion (USD 11.54 billion) and it could be Malaysia's biggest corporate deal.

Binariang GSM, an investment holding firm and special purpose vehicle for Ananda's Usaha Tegas and affiliates, said through CIMB Investment bank it would offer RM 15.60 for the outstanding 2.53 billion shares in the company that Ananda does not already own.

Yesterday, June 21st 2007, AMMB Holdings Bhd's proposal to take AmInvestment Group Bhd (AIGB) private at RM3.70 per AIGB share via a one-for-eight rights issue at RM3.40 and borrowings of RM1.42 billion has been welcomed by Aseambankers.

It said the deal was good for both parties as AIGB would be offered a higher valuation, while for AMMB, the privatisation would give it a stronger earnings base. The privatisation would enable AMMB's shareholders to ride on a stronger earnings base as leakages to minorities at the AIGB level would be plugged.

Aseambankers also said the privatisation of AIGB would facilitate the AMMB groups' migration to a universal banking platform by leveraging on common infrastructure between AIGB and Ambank, the commercial banking arm of the AMMB group. Aseambankers believes the entire exercise is expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2008.

The question is, how would these privatisation exercises have an impact on the total market capitalisation of our share market? With these two big companies withdrawing their presence in the local bourse, would it be possible for Malaysian Capital Market to continue trade actively?

What could be the reasons for these privatisations? Are the companies having too much money but little attractive projects so that this is the only way to provide return to the existing shareholders? Or, is it not that the parent company/major shareholder trying to reap all the profits while the prospect of the company is seen to be profitable in the near future? Are there any indicators that could explain this development?

Perhaps, future research should be directed towards this scenario by looking at possible reasons and explanations of the current trend.

Careless Whisper

Time can never mend
The careless whispers of a good friend
To the heart and mind
Ignorance is kind
There's no comfort in the truth
Pain is all you'll find

Should've known better
I feel so unsure
As I take your hand
And lead you to the dance floor
As the music dies
Something in your eyes
Calls to mind the silver screen
And all its sad good-byes

I'm never gonna dance again
Guilty feet have got no rhythm
Though it's easy to pretend
I know you're not a fool

Should've known better than to cheat a friend
And waste the chance that I've been given
So I'm never gonna dance again
The way I danced with you

Time can never mend
The careless whispers of a good friend
To the heart and mind
Ignorance is kind
There's no comfort in the truth
Pain is all you'll find

I'm never gonna dance again
Guilty feet have got no rhythm
Though it's easy to pretend
I know you're not a fool

Should've known better than to cheat a friend
And waste this chance that I've been given
So I'm never gonna dance again
The way I danced with you
Never without your love

Tonight the music seems so loud
I wish that we could lose this crowd
Maybe it's better this way
We'd hurt each other with the things we'd want to say
We could have been so good togetherWe could have lived this dance forever
But no one's gonna dance with me
Please stay

And I'm never gonna dance again
Guilty feet have got no rhythm
Though it's easy to pretend
I know you're not a fool
Should've known better than to cheat a friend
And waste the chance that I've been given
So I'm never gonna dance again
The way I danced with you

(Now that you're gone)
Now that you're gone
(Now that you're gone)
What I did's so wrongthat you had to leave me alone

Muzakarah Imam Tapi Ada Pop Yeh Yeh?

Pelik tapi benar. I was watching the morning news on TV3 this morning and saw about the dinner held at TPM's residence in Putrajaya for the imams after the national imam's convention at UKM yesterday. What shocked me the most was the entertainment provided by the host - a veteran Pop Yeh Yeh group led by Dato' A Rahman Hassan who is also the guitar player for the band.

Isn't that strange to see a group of alim ulama be entertained with those kind of music? Not to say that I'm oppossing music but wouldn't it be more appropriate if those guests were lavished with nasyid, berzanji, recitation of Quran verses?

I'm not going into the halal haram part of music, but just talking about appropriateness. Macam kalau kita pakai baju kebaya, tapi menari and menyanyi head banging. Kan tak kena tempat?? *sigh*....

Lilitan Asmara - Misha Omar

Dalam keheningan
Desiran sang bayu
Ombak keresahan
Di bawah bulan nan sayu

Bahtera cintamu
Menghembus nafas rindu
Melayari ke alam percintaan dua insan

Di dalam renungan
Apa erti cinta
Kuterperangkap di dalam
Manisan katamu

Pabila kau pergi jua
Hilang sinar obor cinta
Cahaya cinta mulia
Kini tinggal sisa asmara

Diri ini
Masih tercari-cari jawapan
Mengapa harus terjadi
Perpisahan pergolakan

Tak kuduga kini
Api cinta yang membara
Kan kedinginan
Kehampaan
Tanpa dirimu

Resah kumenunggu
Jawapan darimu
Apakah dosaku
Kau sisih bagai hempedu

Lilitan asmara
Bagai di hiris luka
Rahsia di belenggu
Terhanyut di puncak rindu

Conflict

Today, Z called me around 3 pm while he was on his way to the bank. Then, out of a sudden, he asked whether I'm doing anything at that moment and suggested that we meet up. He came to pick me up later about 3.40, just enough time for me to freshened up and got dressed.

We drove aimlessly, from Puchong to Putrajaya, to Bandar Baru Salak Tinggi, to Sepang/KLIA, and ended up in Bagan Lalang - GoldCoast Morib. It was relaxing while he drove around, chatting about many things, from our own personal things, work loads, to politics, to entertainment world until he received a phone call.

I didn't know why, but suddenly I felt like I was struck with a lightning and began to shut off my self from Z. He kept asking what was wrong with me since I suddenly changed from my usual jovial personality to the quiet but defensive person. He was puzzled. I said, if I were to talk about what's in my mind at that time, I might regret what I would be saying and I need to give a lot of thoughts before I would tell him what went wrong.

Obviously, he could sensed what was the root cause but he wanted a confirmation from me. One attempt after another, he still failed to make me open my mouth and talked about it. That's me. I don't usually discuss things when I'm quite dissapointed or mad. I'm afraid I would regret it just like in the past. I learnt my lesson in the hard way and will not repeat the same mistake.

Back from Silence

My parents

I'm back in the blogging world after about one month being silent. Many things, too many things had happened during the one month period. Among others, my 31st birthday which was on 27th May. During that day, I held a simple "makan-makan" for my family. My parents, sister and family, brother and wife were there to celebrate. Unfortunately, my significant other was not here to celebrate it with as he is away for his routine business trip to Manila. *sigh* By the way, my sister lavished me with Secret Recipe's Chocolate Indulgence cake. Awesome!!! Thanks sis....
I'm getting old. I hope I'm getting wiser as well. I know age is just a number but it matters to me somehow. Skin is getting wrinkled (not yet laa), more grey hair coming out (this one is definitely in active process), eyes are getting blur (my power is about 600-650 the last time i checked) and many more signs of ageing.
Apart from my simple birthday, my parents celebrated their 43rd Wedding Anniversary on June 6th. Again, to celebrate, we had a simple "makan-makan" at home. I made nasi dagang, kari ikan tongkol, rendang ayam, jelly, and few other simple dishes for that nite. My cousin and her family were also there to enjoy the "makan-makan".
I asked my parents - secret of maintaining long-standing marriage - answer is simple - honest and love each other. No doubts, I have witnessed my parents' marriage shakened by certain incidents but they reconciled any disparities. I adore them so much. I hope, my upcoming marriage will also be like that.
I'll jot down some other events in my next entry. Till then, tarra!!!

Bukan Diriku

Setelah kupahami aku bukan yang terbaik
Yang ada di hatimu
Tak dapat kusangsikan
Ternyata dirinyalah yang mengerti kamu
Bukanlah diriku

Kini maafkanlah aku
Bila aku menjadi bisu kepada dirimu
Bukan santunku terbungkam
Hanya hatiku berbatas 'tuk mengerti kamu
Maafkanlah aku..

Walau ku masih mencintaimu
Ku harus meninggalkanmu
Ku harus melupakanmu

Meski hatiku menyayangimu
Nurani membutuhkanmu
Ku harus merelakanmu
Dan hanyalah dirimu
Yang mampu memahamiku
Yang dapat mengerti aku

Ternyata dirinyalah
Yang sanggup menyanjungmu
Yang ramah menyentuhmu
Bukanlah diriku..

ASTRO punyer hal!!

I cukup geram bila ASTRO kata nak naikkan monthly fees. Depa claim kata sebab dah introduce a number of new channels, so ader good reason to hike up the fees. Ehh... helo ASTRO. Rancangan yg u all tayang tuh ntah berapa kali ulang pun i tak tahu. Naik jelak. Sepatutnya, dah kita bayar, we expect something excellent. Bukan murah bayar tau.
Ni tak.. kalau kat my place nie, hujan tidak, ribut tidak pun screen jadi gelap. Aper barang nie??? Kalau kita lambat bayar sket, terus potong service. Dah tuh, charge lagi reconnecting fees. Bangang betul!
Kalau nak increase charges, make sure u deliver outstanding service. Kalau siaran pun masih sangkut-sangkut, baik jangan. I'm thinking of boycotting... nasib laa ASTRO nanti!!!

Congratulations to DYMM Raja Dr. Nazrin and Zara Salim Davidson

I'm so thrilled to when I heard the news about the wedding last week. At last, after waiting and waiting for such a long time, our beloved Prince has found his Princess. They are a perfect match - in terms of appearance, personality and intelligence.

Yesterday, in the paper, it was reported that the Raja Dr. Nazrin had politely refused the offer by the State Government to finance his wedding's celebration. Instead, he requires all the bills relating to the ceremony to be claimed from his personal wealth.

It's just so nice to hear that though he is of a royalty, he does not take advantage of his position for his own sake. I just hope that his positive and caring attitude would be set as examples by all other royalties and those people holding any "power".

The wedding is scehduled to take place on May 17th, 2007. My pray is definitely for the couple to be happy and cherish their good life together. Allah bless!

Sebuah Renungan

Ujar lelaki, wanita itu lemah
Ujar wanita, mereka adalah lembut
Antara lemah dan lembut.. besar perbezaannya
Namun ada yang tidak rela mengakuinya
Telah ditakdirkan.. kerana lembut..
Wanita tidak gemar perbalahan..kecuali jika terpaksa
Lalu wanita pun diam
Diam seolah-olah menerima..
Hingga jarum jam tegak bertindih jari

Lelaki yang mengaku kuat..
celik mata sarapan sudah terhidang
Apabila pulang dari pejabat...
di kerusi malas longlai terlentang
Isteri dikatakan lemah...
bergelut di dapur memasak
Suami yang mengaku gagah..
bersantai di dpn TV tidak bergerak
Selesai memasak wanita menguruskan anak-anak
Menyapu sampah,mengemas rumah yang berselerak
Lelaki keletihan kerana memandu di jalan sesak
Berehat,menonton TV sambil tergelak

Dalam diam wanita dianggap lemah...
terus berlumba dengan masa
Memandikan anak, melipat pakaian
Dan membasuh baju
Kaki tangan semua digerakkan dengan laju
Menyiram pohon-pohon bunga yang mulai layu
Sebelum solat Magrib untuk sujud...
Menyembah yang Satu
Makanan dihidang selepas solat
Selesai kerja rumah,anak-anak diajar mengaji
Sedang suami tersadar semula seperti tadi
Sebagai isteri kesetiaan wanita sentiasa diuji
Dalam diam semua tugas rumah segera dibereskan
Lelaki terpelajar celik hati...
Ingin menghapuskan diskriminasi
Lantang membela nasib wanita....
Memberi kesedaran supaya segera bangkit
Meminta lelaki jangan lagi memperlakukan wanita mengikut adap tradisi
Hukum agama telah terpapar

Tugas suami mengemas rumah,menjaga anak
Membasuh pakaian,menyediakan makanan
Jika suami tidak terdaya melakukannya
Seorang pembantu wajar disediakan
Lelaki yang hanyut dalam keasyikan
Tidak mampu menerima perubahan
Rela bertahan bagaimana jua
Asalkan cara hidup tradisi terus dinikmati
Dalam diamWanita yang sering dianggap lemah
Meneruskan hidup dalam segala kekuatan

KeKaYaaN YaNg PaLiNg KaYa iaLaH AKAL,
KeMiSkiNaN YaNg PaLiNg BeSaR iaLaH JAHIL,
KeBuRuKaN YaNg PaLiNg HoDoH iaLaH SESAT'

Tak perlu mencari teman secantik BALQIS,
Jika diri tak seindah SULAIMAN,
Mengapa mengharap teman setampan YUSUF,
Jika kasih tak setulus ZULAIKHA,
Tak perlu diri menjadi seteguh IBRAHIM,
Jika tak sekuat SARAH,
Mengapa didamba teman hidup seistimewa KHADIJAH,
Jika diri tak sesempurna RASULULLAH S.A.W,

Tak guna Ada MATA kalau tak dapat MELIHAT,
Tak guna Ada HATI kalau tak tau MENILAI.....

TEACHER : What do you call a person who keeps on talking when people are no longer interested?
BALGOBIN : A teacher

Skim cepat kaya Internet

Macam judi laa...
Takkan la tak ingat skim Pak Man Telo dulu? Dah jenuh kita didik kata benda-benda macam tuh tak betul dan takkan tahan lama, masih nak buat. Tapi, saya ada cerita pasal skim mcm nie about 7-8 years ago. Namanya SkyBiz.
Sedangkan skim2 mcm Shaklee, Cosway, Amway, Zhulian pun saya malas. Ramai yang memujuk. Alasan saya senang - saya malas nak buat semua tuh!!
Moralnya, kalau nak kaya kena usaha. Takde yang datang bergolek kecuali jika anda bertuah. Itupun kita tak tahu, mungkin Allah nak menduga kita. Mcm abang saya, masa dia terima duit tuh, umpama rezeki terpijak sebab masa tuh dia sedang in between jobs after taking VSS from Esso before joining Petronas. Nanti kena kerat tangan!!! hehehehe

Beef Kebab with Pita Bread

Today, out of boredom, I prepared beef kebab, my own version, for a light snack. Here's the recipe.
Ingredients for beef kebab:
300 grams of beef (US fillet is preferred)
1 red onion
1 inch of ginger
2 cloves of garlic
3 table spoon of dark soy sauce
1 table spoon of oyster sauce
1 table spoon of honey
Black pepper
Chilli sauce
Cooking oil
Method:
  • Marinate the beef (which has been cut into small strips) with chopped onion, ginger and garlic
  • Add in dark soy sauce, oyster sauce, honey and black pepper
  • Marinate for about 1-2 hours in the fridge
  • Preheat non-stick pan over medium heat stove and pour in some cooking oil
  • Saute beef in pan for about 15 minutes (it won't take too long since US fillet is easily tendered)
  • Remove excess oil (if any) and let it fried until it looks a bit crispy
  • Add in the chilli sauce
  • Seasoned to taste

Ingredients for coleslaw:

1/4 cabbage (shredded/chopped finely)

1/2 stick of carrot (shredded)

2 tablespoons of light mayonaise

A pinch of salt

1 table spoon of sugar

1 table spoon of white vinegar/Lemon juice

Method:

  • Mixed everything in a large bowl
  • Refrigerate before serving

Garnishing the kebab:

  • Shred some lettuce
  • Prepare tomatoes in small cubes
  • Cut the pita bread (wholemeal is preferred) into half and toast it awhile on a hot pan
  • Make incision to the bread to make it as a pocket
  • Stuff in the lettuce and tomatoes first
  • Scoop in the coleslaw
  • Scoop in the beef
  • Add in more lettuce and tomatoes
  • Squeeze a bit of mayonaise and chilli sauce

A perfect snack for a lazy Sunday evening!!!

The Missing Boy

I'm sure most of us have read in newspapers and heard it on TV about the missing of a boy while his father was at the changing room at Sogo, KL. Yesterday, after missing for about 2 weeks, finally a Myanmar couple had reunited the boy with his parents again. According to the couple, the boy was found trying to cross the road and the lady had sort of rescued him from being knocked by a car while trying to cross. Surprisingly, she also claimed that her husband and her didn't know anything about the media raving exposure on the boy been missing. No TV at home - that's what she claimed.
Today, after receiving comments from many parties, the police had arrested the Myanmar couple for possible criminal offence relating to the boy's missing adventure. It was thought that the couple had detained the boy and intended or had already used the boy for begging purposes. They even shaved the boy's head bald. There were also no signs of chicken pox disease from the boy's body as claimed by the Myanmar lady. So, the police need to crack the case to find out the actual story.
But the thing I want to raise here is about the parents attitude towards their responsibility of taking care of the kids. Of course, since I don't have any kids YET, it's easy for me to condemn. But I have experiences taking care of my three nephews, which are not EASY at all. If you've been to the shopping malls, hypermarkets, there would be a number of announcements of missing kids. These parents are too absorbed with their shopping spree trips until they totally ignore their kids. They just let the kids to be out of their sight, within the shopping arena, thinking that, where else could they go. Geez... these people should not be a PARENT!!
And, just now, I watched news on TV and saw a statement by the boy's father confessing that they will be more careful with their children, after all that had happened. Stupid!!!!! Luckily the boy is still alive. Otherwise, it would be the most expensive lesson of PARENTING.
Actually, when they media raved about this, I didn't feel sorry for the parents at all though I was hoping that the boy is saved by someone. I think it's high time that PARENTS should be more aware on their children whereabouts and do not take things for granted.
By right, not only the Myanmar couple should be convicted with the alleged offence, the parents SHOULD also be convicted for being IRRESPONSIBLE towards own flesh and blood. Maybe, others would learn a lesson from this case.
